Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands does a lot of things exceptionally well but it also takes a bit too many steps in the wrong direction.
This whole concept is more of a nuisance than a fun new addition but it is nifty at first. With that in mind, one aspect annoyed me which is the overworld where you move a big-headed version of your character between missions and engage in battles whenever you come into contact with an enemy. I played both of these modes and had such a great time in each of them that I found it hard to enjoy the single player afterwards. 😊 This fun is amplified in the multiplayer component which you can enjoy via local splitscreen or online. After decking yourself out then fighting all sorts of skeletons, zombies, and such it can be a lot of fun.
There are also additional accessory equipment slots that give you more boosts and allow for additional customization. There are notable differences, though, such as melee weapons and magic spells and I ended up using both almost as much as shooting which says a lot for how well-balanced the combat is. As I mentioned, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is very similar to Borderlands and I wish more was done to set itself apart gameplay-wise. Silly moments like this make the story fun. Having these familiar comedic voices helps elevate the dialogue and I particularly enjoyed hearing Andy Samberg who plays a typical character for himself.
